Dr. Susan L. Beck is a professor in the Department of Geosciences at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona, USA. Professor Beck received her PhD in seismology from the University of Michigan in 1987 and spend several years at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory before coming to the University of Arizona in 1990. Professor Beck’s research is focused on using seismic imaging to understand earthquakes, subduction and the formation of the Andes. Her research involves installing seismic station through the Andes and using this data in multiple types of seismic tomography to image the lithospheric structure of Andes. Professor Beck is an America Geophysical Union Fellow, Geological Society of America Fellow and recipient of the GSA Woollard Award for outstanding geophysical contributions to geology.
