Millarca Valenzuela Picón
Geologist and PhD in Natural Sciences, Geology, from Universidad de Chile.
Her main areas of interest are: Meteorites, meteors, asteroids, impact craters and planetary geology.
Asteroid 11819 was named as “Millarca” as a recognition to her studies in the area of meteorites.
Dr. Valenzuela is the Head of the Geoheritage Unit of the Department of Applied Geology and Geological Resources of the National Geology and Mining Service (SERNAGEOMIN).
She is the Vice President of the Chilean Geological Society and the Director of the Meteorite and Planetary Sciences Group at the same institution.
