Definitions, Categories of Participation, Periods and Registration Fees

Definitions

Non-member of the Geological Society of Chile (SGCh): Who is not associated to the SGCh. For the purposes of registration to the XVI CGCh, a non-member is considered to be someone who -being associated to the SGCh- is not up to date with their social dues at the time of payment of the registration fee.

Active Member of the Geological Society of Chile (SGCh): Who is associated to the SGCh with their membership fees up to date at the time of payment of registration.

Participation Categories

1. Non-member Professional/Academic: A Non-member Professional is defined as someone who works in the industry, consulting companies and other public and private institutions and who is not an Active Member of the SGCh. A Non-Member Academic is defined as someone who works as a teacher and/or researcher and/or technician in educational establishments, research centers and related institutions and who is not an Active Member of the SGCh.
2. Professional/Academic Active Member: A professional Active Member is defined as someone who works in the industry, consulting firms and other public and private institutions, who are associated to the SGCh with their social dues up to date at the time of payment of registration. An Academic Active Member is defined as someone who works as a teacher and/or researcher and/or technician in educational establishments, research centers and related institutions that are associated to the SGCh with their social dues up to date at the time of registration.
3. Senior Passive Non-Member: A Senior Passive Non-Member is defined as someone who is 65 years of age or older at the time of registration, who is not working on a regular basis and who is not an Active Member of the Geological Society of Chile.
4. Senior Passive Active Member: A Senior Passive Active Member is defined as a person who has reached 65 years of age or older at the time of registration, and who is not working on a regular basis, and who is also an Active Member of the Geological Society of Chile, with his/her membership dues up to date at the time of payment of the registration fee.
5. Non-Member Postdoctoral Fellow: A Non-Member Postdoctoral Fellow is defined as a person who is pursuing a postdoctoral degree at the time of registration and who is not an Active Member of the Geological Society of Chile.
6. Postdoctoral Active Member: A Postdoctoral Active Member is defined as someone who is pursuing his/her postdoctoral degree at the time of registration and who is an Active Member of the Geological Society of Chile, with his/her membership fees up to date at the time of payment of the registration fee.
7. Non-Member Graduate Student: A Non-Member Graduate Student is defined as a person who is pursuing a Master’s or Doctorate degree in an accredited academic program, national or foreign, and who is not an Active Member of the Geological Society of Chile. A Regular Student Certificate (which will be reviewed by the Organizing Committee) must be presented at the time of registration on the platform.
8. Postgraduate Student Active Member: A Postgraduate Student Active Member is defined as a person who is studying for a Master’s or Doctorate degree in an accredited academic program, national or foreign, and who is an Active Member of the Geological Society of Chile, with his/her membership fees up to date at the time of registration payment. A Regular Student Certificate (which will be reviewed by the Organizing Committee) must be presented at the time of registration on the platform.
9. Non-Member Undergraduate Student: A Non-Member Undergraduate Student is defined as a person who is studying at an accredited academic program, national or foreign, and who is not an Active Member of the Geological Society of Chile. A valid Regular Student Certificate (which will be reviewed by the Organizing Committee) must be presented at the time of registration on the platform.
10. Undergraduate Student Active Member: An Undergraduate Student Member, national or foreign, is defined as a person who is studying at an accredited academic program and is an Active Member of the Geological Society of Chile with their social dues up to date at the time of registration payment. A valid Regular Student Certificate (which will be reviewed by the Organizing Committee) must be presented at the time of registration on the platform.
11. Companion: A Companion is defined as a person who participates only in the social activities of the Congress (Opening Ceremony and Closing Ceremony), being associated with a category described above.

Registration Periods and Values

The registration fee includes attendance to all academic events, welcome cocktail, coffee breaks, poster sessions, congress kit and digital certificate of participation. Participation in the Opening and Closing Ceremonies is included.

Not included in the registration fee:

1. Lunch. Different alternatives will be offered, the costs will be informed in due time.
2. Scientific-Technical Workshops. Costs will be informed in due time.
3. Field Trips. Costs will be informed in due time.

Registration Cancellation and Refund Policy

Requests for registration cancellations and refunds should be addressed to the Organizing Committee, indicating the corresponding reasons.

Refunds will be issued as follows:

Refunds requested up to August 26, 2023: 75% of the registration fee will be refunded. Refunds requested from August 27 through October 25, 2023: 50% of the canceled registration fee will be refunded.

No cancellations or refund requests received after October 26, 2023 will be accepted. Approved refunds will be issued upon completion of the event.
